These are the projects I really like.. A nice new BMW GS with factory black paint in perfect condition will provide a solid clean ground/canvas for some color to emulate another factory GS stlye seen before (pictured) except in a yellow and grey/silver .. gonna sport things up a bit .
Heres a couple as is pics as well as a hint of the colors and pattern in mind ... Looking forward to some back together pics in the same light.. ... |

Looking at a past example helps get the idea in mind ..
And maybe something for the fenders as well, |

Here's the concept from the actual e-mail...
I just sent the tank and fenders to you today via UPS ground to the Mountain View address with an ETA of Wednesday. I went on your website and saw my GS, way cool to be able to see the process from start to finish. Since I never really cared for the GS in black, I’m very happy knowing it’s going to be changed to a color that will be unique to my Beemer. I’ve been studying various pics of the color scheme from the blue and white tank you did earlier this month and trying to determine what combination of the titan grey and mandarin yellow will flow the best on the GS. After hours of contemplation and total confusion, this is how I see it looking the best. For the Tank Substitute the Mandarin Yellow in place of the Alpine white. Substitute the Titan Grey in place of the Pacific Blue Use a darker Grey Pinstripe to separate the two colors For the Fenders Front Fender Titan Grey RR Fender Mandarin Yellow And for some unknown freaking reason I can’t get it out of my head that some kind of a mandarin yellow stripes would look good going vertically across the front fender, much like the thin vertical stripes on the fairing of the K1200 you sent me. I’m very open to suggestions on what you think will look the best. |

I got to say projects like this one need a calm focus that sometimes means getting other projects done and gone to clear the air and keep it fun to do..
I was over here getting this K bike happy... and truely want to put 100% in them all so hence father time ... http://www.a2zautoforums.com/showth...35998#post35998 Heres a way to get the lines level from a picture... The spinole of the BMW badge has a center line that can be used to reference the angel the tank sits on the bike. (*center stand) The same angel is transfered to the tank with the use of a level surface (glass) and an actual bubble level atached to the tank. The tank is raised in the rear till the bubble is centered and then the graphics or tape can target exact places via measurments between glass in this case and points on the tank...also shown is a round bubble level to adjust & level the glass surface . |

off comes the rubber gaurd with dental floss and patience ...
then some "rehersal" taping to register where the corners will be. This tape will be removed so the black can be preped for paint and then it will get a final taping... In the mean time the rear fender is geting it's color |

Here is a look at the actual colors side by side ...

Since the paint on the tank is in such good condition the black can be used for the 1/8 inch border stripe so preping as if for a blend meaning clean and dulled of shine is needed and then ready for taping.

After all the set up with the levels and glass all that is needed is a 1 inch spacer to keep the relationship to the glass correct. Then the tape can be double checked that it is even side to side from the glass up etc.

After 10 hours it's more than safe to tape off the yellow and get some grey on there without tape marks on the previous color..
