Pfc. Jessica Lynch, rescued Tuesday from an Iraqi hospital, fought fiercely and shot several enemy soldiers after Iraqi forces ambushed the Army's 507th Ordnance Maintenance Company, firing her weapon until she ran out of ammunition, U.S. officials said yesterday.

Lynch, a 19-year-old supply clerk, continued firing at the Iraqis even after she sustained multiple gunshot wounds and watched several other soldiers in her unit die around her in fighting March 23, one official said. The ambush took place after a 507th convoy, supporting the advancing 3rd Infantry Division, took a wrong turn near the southern city of Nasiriyah.

"She was fighting to the death," the official said. "She did not want to be taken alive."

Her parents came out today and said that she wasn't shot or stabbed but did have 2 broke legs. Story was stretched before it was started. I'm glad that she is going to be ok. Her family said she had undergone surgery on her spine for a fracture to her vertibrate I believe it was. I heard it straight from their mouths on the news and I trust her family to be telling the truth. I'm just happy she is out and hoping we can get the others somehow. An ex- Kuwait ambassador has told her to pick out a new car as soon as she is better. She has also been offered 2 scholorships. Her brother said she wanted to know if she made the local paper.

Default Did she get any shots off?
I thought I read she was in sort of a convoy accident while they were under fire? Anybody got a link to a story about this? I am glad she is back safe and is going to make a ton o' money.
